Where to stay?

Hello from Scotland. I'm in the process of getting my visa and hope to be in Adelaide late Aug '10.

I'll be looking to rent some where within a 'reasonable' area, with good public (rail/tram) links and a max half hour commute from work (King William street).

Can any of you good folks advise on areas where I should concentrate my search and maybe describe the area (e.g. beach loc / riverside / rural / urban).

Schooling is not an issue but obviously the neccessities of shopping and socialising/nightlife is a consideration too.

Thanks in advance,

GG

Glenelg (beach), Unley, Norwood, North Adelaide, Goodwood, Hutt Street (central).

All have good "cafe culture" and good transport links into the City. Personally, I'd go for Norwood - ten minutes to city (public transport, cycling, walking if you prefer are all options), 15/20 minutes to the beach, lots of pubs, restaurants, cafes, good food shops.

Have a look on Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au or http://www.domain.com.au for rentals - ideally I'd recommend renting somewhere short-term to start with so you can see if the area suits you - most rentals are unfurnished, but you will find a few, particularly in those areas, which are furnished (domain allows you to put in "furnished" as a key word when searching if that's what you need)

Hope that helps to start off with anyway!

Diane
