Each to their own but I am not a fan of Royal Park, older area and a few crusty suburbs close by like Seaton. However, have a look at West Lakes which is really nice. Close to fab beaches at Tennyson and Grange. Or try a bit further south like Flinders Park. Hope this helps

It's definately not the nicest suburb in the area. There's a fair bit of industry, and in general it's a poorer suburb, although it may be 'up-and-coming' one day.

Nearby suburbs such as West Lakes, West Lakes Shore, Semaphore, Tennyson, Grange (nearer the beach) and Cheltenham, Woodville, Albert Park (inland a bit) are nicer and worth having a look at.

Yep if you have kids then Royal Park (and its schools) is not the greatest place to pick at the moment, but areas with "names" are gradually changing as older housing gets bulldozed and trust housing is rebuilt in conjunction with private housing. Different people move into the area, look for different things in schools, expect different things etc. This has happened with Mitchell Park which used to be a no go area unless you lived there or were looking for your car hoping it hadn't been torched or up on bricks if you found it LOL. Also same thing is happening to Christies Beach, a beachside suburb that stayed cheap for years because of its name, but now is being developed with new expensive houses. So have a closer look at Royal Park when you come, if you think it's ok then you can probably pick up a house in an area like this cheaper than elsewhere. Good luck. It is close to the city however and this part of the innercity has yet to be renovated and gentrified. It will happen at some stage.
