Citizenship question

HI,

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this ? (Please no guesses)

On the citizenship application form it says you must be in the country for your application to be approved. Does this mean that after applying you can go on holiday while it is being processed? But makr sure you are back in OZ when you think it might be approved?

Also if you plan to go abroad while it is being processed, does it count against you ie delay your approval?

Thank you.:)

We took our test on 9th May this year. You need to attend a Citizenship Ceremony at a later date before you become a Citizen and get proof in the form of a certificate. We just got notified that our Ceremony is on 2nd September. Our local council is Onkaparinga, others may be quicker, you would need to check locally.

Cheers Clare

We took ours last month - our test dates came through within days & then DIAC offered the ceremony ( where you take the oath etc at the office straight away ) Think that was a trial, your citizenship is not complete until you've had the ceremony. Our council ( Holdfast do the ceremonies every 3 months - the next being October ) but we didn't want to wait. Hope this helps
