State sponsorship programme on hold ???

Hi all,

We are in the very early stages of a SS 176 visa application. From reading threads on here, I am alarmed to hear that the state sponsorship programme is currently on hold. Does anyone know what is happening about this and how it will effect our application? I am worried that this is going to take years to get over there !!!

Hi, the current state sponsorship application process is undergoing a period of "caretaker" mode due to the upcoming general elections later this month. The new SMP is said to be going to be relased no sooner than september and all new applications are not being accepted until this date. There are some of us who have been lucky today and got ours granted!!! We got our forms in just before the deadline and were put on hold.

Is this 'caretaker' mode definetly a temporary thing? Or are things liable to change so much that we wont be able to get over there ?

Any info and advise greatly welcome.
