Hey guys,

Just wondering if I can have your advise on Athol Park? There's a new development up there called Wood ... something. the new estate looks really nice but anyone know what the areas like?

Any advise would be very much appreciated as thinking of putting in the application form on Wednesday !!

There's a group of suburbs around there which are known as "The Parks" (for obvious reasons - Athol Park, Mansfield Park, Angle Park, as well as Woodville Gardens, Woodville North and Ferryden Park). They are undergoing quite extensive development as there was previously a lot of social housing in the area, which are gradually being knocked down and redeveloped for private sale. The company that is the main developer I think is one called Westwood. The location is great for getting into the city, getting to the coast (not all that far from West Lakes and Semaphore) or getting to the industries and employment around Gepps Cross and the Port. Hanson Road which runs just about through the centre does have a bit of a reputation as a red light area though - or it did up till recently, that may have changed! Lots of Vietnamese and Polish in the area.

For long term investment therefore they are probably good, but like any developing area, you are going to find good and bad patches so the best way is to drive around and see what you think. You might want to try a PM to Boxertony as he is renting around Ferryden Park somewhere I think and has been there for a while.
