Son with Scoliosis

We have just been told our 10 year old son has scoliosis (bend in the spine). It does not effect him and is only noticeable when he bends over.

Does anybody know if this will cause problems with the medicals?

My son is really looking forward to moving to Australia and if we could not go due to this, he would be devastated.

Hi

Our nieces both have serious heart conditions (they are twins) and they still went. They had to have a more lengthly medical and have had to pay for top medicare but it did not prevent their visa being granted, or should i say the parents visa being granted.

Hi Mizzmp

Which visa did the girls' parents obtain, do you know? DIAC are not allowed to do deals on the basis that somebody might buy private medical insurance because the person might not buy it when push comes to shove.

However if the visa is a temporary, employer sponsored sc 457 visa then the employer can insist on the prospective employee obtaining private medical insurance in the situation which you describe.

Hence I am wondering whether you know which visa the children's parents obtained?

Cheers

Basically it all comes down to how much it will cost Jo Public to support the medical condition in terms of medical treatment and in the case of children..how much extra it will cost to support the child in school in terms of extra help.

I know nothing about your sons condition and its effects..it would be best to seek advice from a specialist immigration advisor. I do know there are a couple of guys on british expats who do this..I think his name is Peter Bollard..or something like that.. and if he can't get you your visa..nobody can!
