Visa Validation

When you get granted your visa and you send off your passport to have your visa put in, you'll find a date on it for when you have to have done your reccie and also the date by which you should be living in oz. If you are on a permanent visa it is usually 12 months from when you had your medicals or police checks done, however, this is not always the case. Just a word of warning and caution if you have medicals done first on say 1st April, 2011 and you get your visa granted 31st January 2012 it gives you approx 2 months to validate ! There's been a lot of people nearly caught out, just because immi keeps changing the rules.

If i am not mistaken then as long as you had not done your police checks then you would have to validate by Sept 11....but if you did your police checks say April 10 you would have to validate April 11..make sense?

My Mrs had to redo her police check as she broke her leg before we came here and the new date gave us time to fly as her Surgeon said there aint no way she could fly...

Hope this helps

Unless it's been changed since 2008, it's normally within 12 months of the date of your meds and police check you submit.

Hence this is why I always say to people to wait until you have a case officer to have them done, as I know of people that have submitted them with their visa application, and upon visa grant have had 6-8 weeks to validate - NOT easy when you have a family/work/budget.

Because I waited until I had a case officer when doing mine, my grant was November, but I had until October the next year to validate. I went on xmas day though because I just wanted to get back to the warmth and coopers pale ale.
