I spoke to ine of the recruitment consultants at O'Grady Peyton last night and told the visa processing time for 176 at the moment is 2 years. Please cheer me up and tell me you have all been told otherwise?
My application is waiting to be lodged, just have to wait on confirmation on a few details then I'll be joinng you in the visa thread.
I am overrrrrrrrr tttttttheeeeee mmmmmmooooooooooooonnnnnnn for you guys!!!!! Not long anymore, just hang in there!
Don't know what anyone else thinks but sounds to me like they've got mixed up with the 175. The 175 is currently about 18 months - 2 years. The 176 is down as 12 months but from what I can tell it's only taking a few months at the moment. Most people seem to be getting CO's in a few weeks after lodging at the moment.
Hope that helps

Cara we must have been typing at th same time :))
That would make sense. You would think they would be more familiar with the visa and processing times if they are offering advice. I looked at the timelines on here and as you say, the 176 is getting processed much quicker than the 175 and I do recall being quoted a 12month timeline by an agent. I just wondered if something had changed. You have cheered me up, thanks.
The 175 visa is category 3 and the 176 visa is cat 2 IF you are on the SMP list & you get sponsorship so it will definitely be quicker. I think if you have applied for 176 and are NOT on the SMP then you will either be Cat 3 or 4 depending on whether you are on the SOL list or not. So then it would be 18m - 24m or longer for cat 4. As you are on SMP you don't need to worry about that. The only permanent visa quicker than the 176 on SMP is the employer sponsored.
Have a look at this link (although like we said the 176 is currently quicker than that)

Thanks Littlem. I also find myself checking throughout the day, even when it is their middle of the night, I cannot help myself, even though I know there is no way I will get a decision for at least another 4 weeks. It is going to be a very long month!!

email@example.com. Last week, I dropped an empty e-mail and an automated response arrived which provided updated information on processing of applications for General Skilled Migration. In the mail it was stated that Visa 176 applications lodged before 18 March 2011 are currently being considered by a case officer in SA. So they work really quickly in Adelaide. The database will be refreshed tomorrow...If I got a fresher info, I would share with you.
