We are coming for a two week visit in April to validate our visas and was just wondering how we find out as much info as possible cos I want to make sure Hubby likes what he sees and wants to put the house up for sale as soon as we get back :D

Obviously, people aren't going to want us to look round there houses for sale if we have no intention of buying so wondering how to find out what we need to know as regards to house prices, sizes etc, available jobs for hubby and info on getting his Class A Electrical licence and would we be able to look round Uni and local high schools or is that frowned upon??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi, we look at houses most weekends and some are way out of our price range, we tell the agent this and most say they dont blame us looking round as good to see what is about and what your money will buy you. When you get here get The Advertiser paper on a Saturday and that has a few pull outs, one is careers, a few others and one is real estate. In the back of the real estate one it has the houses that have open viewings that weekend. The majority of agents ask for a name and number when you enter property (some just give a brouchure and leave you alone), just explain your situation and sure they wont turn you away. They like numbers coming through doors.

Hope that makes sense.

Good luck on your reccie

Yep, as the Dimmocks have said above, you won't have any problem looking round houses that are for sale. And the owners are rarely there when you do so - they go out and the agent holds the "open"! Definitely do try and have a look at a couple while you're here.

Schools and Unis are a little harder - we had no problem looking round primary schools but High Schools prefer people to visit on specific open days.

Keep an eye out for any get togethers organised on here while you're visiting - meeting other people who have been through the same thing is probably the best way to get your husband enthused!
