Hi just wondered if anyone could give me some advice on wages my wife is a bank clerk and I works as a builder and paver.

Hoping to be over shortly so any advice would be great.

Try looking on CareerOne.com.au or Seek.com.au for similar jobs - that will give you a good idea of the current going rate in Adelaide.

hi ive been currently looking at banking jobs as this is what i did back in the uk and the wages seem to be around$40k per year and depending on companies etc tradies are getting paid approx $20-$40 per hour!

This is starting to tickle me. How many people have decided to make the move without at least checking what wage they will be on when they get here?

 

It was one of the first things I did, but i did struggle to get an exact figure. So will people who ask on a forum. it's a bit like a guarded secret, yes there are new contracts and minimum wage set ups (awards), but it all depends on your "skills" and negotiation to get above award pay.

 

Also be a bit carefull of seek's job pay out figures, knock 10% off to be safe, especially when you first arrive. Adelaide - in some cases - does not pay as high as other states ........ yet
