Meds Finally On Way To OZ But Worried

Hi All,

Well we went for our meds on the 01st March and all was going well. Panel Doctor didnt seem woried about wifes crohns disease as its minor and commented on how good our specialists report was for it. Then it come to me and it turns out i have high blood presure. Had to take a letter to my doctor to investigate and have spent the last 3 weeks being very inpatiend having bloods, ecg, 24 hours monitor done and after that it turns out i have hypertension with no underlying cause which i guess is good as my heart and everything else is fine. I have been put on meds which i will have to take forever and then had to send all results back to panel doctor with a letter from my doctor explaining what they did. Now the panel doctor said not to worry and has now sent the meds of to Aus for processing (on the plane at the moment with DHL tracking)but i obviously cant help but worry. Were right near the end and to fail now due to this would be hard to take. We are not using an agent so have no one to get feed back from on the likely outcome so has anyone out there had the same experience/problems and can you put our minds at rest please.

Many thanks all.

Hiya, Same here. Had medicals on 9th March. I was on meds for high blood pressure and all was fine until I got to the clinic. My bp went through the roof. I have to get 3 readings from my doc. 2 down 1 to go. They also wanted to know why I had been on pain killers for the past 5 years. My doc wrote a letter saying I had mild arthrosis (wear and tear) but they werent happy. So we have had to send copies of MRI scans, and letters from the specialists. They have all said I dont have arthritis which is obviously what they are concerned about. OK I take painkillers (I was fine until I had 3 epidurals with my last baby) and then c-section. I have never claimed a penny in benefits etc and I have never had a day off sick because of my back. I am hoping that after next week our medicals will go to Oz. So far it has cost over £6,000 to get this far and if we fail now I don't know what we will do. Of course this then worries me and my bp rises. I am sure you will be fine. They sort everything out this end so that when the medical results get to Oz it is straight forward for them. I hope you hear about your visas very soon. The amount of stress to get this far is incredible but the life we will have out in Oz will be wonderful and all our bp's will be normal again (plus of course the red wine in Adelaide). Good luck Jackie :arghh:

Thanks people, might be worth starting a new thread "whats the worst condition youve passed the medical with". Then we will all be able to compare.

There was a thread running on poms in oz recently about what people had passed with medical wise and surprising some were really serious. Considering i am really worried about my sons high functioning autism and hubbys arthritis they were mild in comparison. :biglaugh:

Hi,

We just got our visa granted yesterday after having my medicals reffered for high blood pressure.

We had our medicals done on the 27th Feb and it was uploaded on the 7th of March but while the rest of the family had thier medicals finalised mine was reffered.

I am on medication to control my blood pressure but the stress of having to do the medicals actually push my blood pressure even higher on the day. The doctor said because I am aware of it and I am already taking medication I should be o.k but still I had to wait for three anxious weeks.

I am not a patient person so I e-mail my CO but he just told me to wait for the medicals to be finalised. I e-mail HCO in Sydney and they responded by saying they have a backlog and I have to wait. The waiting was killing me so on Monday morning at around 3.00am I called HCO gaian and this time they told me that my medicals has just been finalised that day so I should wait till I hear from my CO. I couldn't wait so I sent another e-mail to my CO telling him what HCO just told me and the next day he replied to my e-mail with the message that our visa is now approved.

I am sure you guys will be fine but I know how you feel having gone through that myself. I thought everything was going to be snatched away from us at the last minute but thank God we are fine now.

Wish you the best of luck and hope you get your visa soon.

Well done with getting your visa. We had our medicals in Maidenhead on 25/2/11; our on line status on 15/3/11 showed as Health Requirements Finalised / Medical Reports Received. On the Checklist screen it says Medicals Requested. Our agent said that screen gets changed once the CO has looked at the application again after the meds have been signed off which I presume was on the 15/3. Its now over 2 weeks and we've heard nothing. Can you remember how long it took to get your visa granted after they logged your medicals as received? We've no underlying health issues that we are aware of and the wait is killing us. Lack of sleep or what! Thanks :arghh:

Hi there

When you say the meds are finalised, is the wording Health Requirements Finalised (which ours says) and underneath Medicals Received ie. is that the same thing. Ours have been showing this since 15/3/11. We are thinking of maybe emailing our c/o tonight and asking when they are able to make a decision. BTW I think my other half was on the same electricians Vetassess as you back in October 2009. Did you go to Blackburn? Our timelines are pretty much identical!

The rule of thumb with DIAC regards medicals is..how much will your condition cost medicare a year.

I believe that the amount used to be between 5 and 10 thousand dollars a year....unless your condition would need regular hospital treatment ....it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi there, Yes on all apart from the wifes it says received and then finalised at the top.

We knew the wifes would go that way but in the end shouldnt be a problem (hopefully). I would email your CO with a polite reminder if i was you.

Yes i did the sparks vets in Blackburn back in October 2009. Seems such a long time ago now. Where abouts in Adelaide do you want to go to and when do you think you will get there ?

I was mainly shocked about my high BP as i never knew about it but my doctors were quick and they have gone staright to finalised so all was good on that.

The wifes Crohns is only mild and well treaded and we took a full specialist report with us which the panel doctor was very happy with.

In my head im telling myself we will get there but i guess everyone in the same boat as us worrys untill that email saying vis agranted comes.

I really can't see it being a problem..and if it is....I would worry more about your health than getting into oz .

As I said before..hubby got a cat b on his meds..not a fail or a pass though...just a matter of signing a health undertaking and getting into oz within 6 months of the meds..instead of the normal 12 months.

It will be fine...stop stressing..it won't help your blood pressure.

This last lap of the emmigration process is by far the most stressful...you can see the finishing line..but just can't quite get there!!:arghh:

Hi,

We got our visa one day after our medicals was finalised. That was because I sent an e-mail to our CO to inform him that our medicals has been finalised and can he now tell us what the status of our application is. Since he have to reply to our e-mail that means he would have to check the application and since all the requirements were met then the only action available was for him to approve the application which he did that day.

If you have done your police checks then I will advice you to send your CO an e-mail asking what the status of your application is since all the requirements have been met.

That means he would then have to check the application and make a decision either way.

Hope that helps and good luck.

We had our medicals on 4th March, 3 of us were finalized with the week however my daughter has a slight hear murmur although she has never had any problems or medication/treatment other than it being checked every two years. I did give consultants last report at medical so they are aware of the situation however her status is still "referred" yet in 3 weeks they have not asked us for any additional info. We are getting very frustrated so know how everyone else is feeling....arrrr

Lets hope we all hear soon.

Hi after info please, does anybody claim LDA (living disability allowance), i claim this for my son who has mild autism, on the paperwork for the meds is asks if you receive any financial assistance for medical problems. My question is do i state it on my application as i claim it or does is go on my sons form as he has the condition??

hope it makes sense.
