Thanks for that - just read it myself and currently having a complete panic as it looks like some occupations have been 'closed' as they are full?: Here's what I have also read from the State Sponsorship website:

All applications for these occupations that have been submitted online and have sent all the essential documents will not proceed. Please monitor this website for the occupations that are included in the next Program year.

The South Australian Government is pleased to announce the signing of the State Migration Plan (SMP) with the Federal Minister for Immigration and Citizenship.

This formal agreement covers state sponsorship of skilled migrants to South Australia under the Skilled - Sponsored (176 and 886) and Skilled - Regional Sponsored (475 and 487) visas.

Applications for South Australian Government state sponsorship under the State Migration Plan will commence from the date of this announcement.

  • The State Sponsored Migration List (SSML) indicates the occupations available for sponsorship under the SMP during the remainder of the 2010/11 program year.

Tori, Can you call your agent? If not could you give another one a call to check where you stand? I really hope thus is not the case for you :( also has your online tracker changed at all?

On a what if note, if you cant be processed further look to see what the criteria is for off list as that may be an option for you.

I hope you get good news, keeping everything crossed for you x

:( what do you still need to do before you can lodge? Is there anyway you can pull it out the bag? Dependant on what it is maybe you could plead exceptional circumstances to get it processed as a priority?

Don't give up,

Good luck

Dont think this will happen as they are a stickler for the rules.

What i would recomend is just keep plodding along with the process. Ours has taken almost 2 years and at the begining looked like it would only take 6 months. They keep changing rules and puting trades on and of the sponsored lists so just keep going and in the end you will get there. Good luck.

We still have to get TRA done, we were aiming to have that in beginning of April at latest, then SS in in May, always knew it was going to be tight but there was always a chance - a few days or a week saved here or there was all we needed. But hubby still hasn't done his technical interview for the AQF - the first time it was scheduled they had server problems their end, then they rescheduled it but nobody told us so he missed it  , it has now been rescheduled again for Monday so you can see now why we're stuck!

We will carry on for now, there's no point in stopping so will get TRA done, see how long that takes then take it from there. Our only other alternative was WA but have no clue where to start with that, plus what are the chances of them doing the same as SA?

Oh the joys!

Hi,

I agree, just carry on with the AQF III,get all the TRA docs ready in the mean time so that you are ready to submit the moment you get confimation of obtaining the AQF.To save even more time, arrange with the AQF assessing body to collect the confirmation docs, don't let them post it!Please do not make use of the Royal Mail, use TNT or DHL! I know it is costly, but it is so worth delivering docs with the courier!Time is not on your side,so pull out all the stops please!!!!!

Keeping fingers crossed! Good luck!If it is any consolation,my husband got his TRA outcome within 13 days!

Thanks Petal - we are going to go for a 175 visa so very grateful that we still have another option, was just hoping to get there quicker as from what we have read and been told it can take a long time that way.

We are in Wilton, just outside Salisbury too! Whereabouts are you and what are your plans/progress so far etc?

Aarrrghhh

I'm still waiting on skills assessment (teacher) application been with them 3 and half weeks but they only count from the acknowledgement email which was 2 1/2 weeks ago. They are supposed to take 8 weeks so.... looks like we won't be able to apply for SS yet

Got my IELTS on 16th April apparently get the results 13 days after so very tight even if I did get skills assessment back in time.

have just sent off skills to be assessed and they only got them yesterday so there is no way i'm going to get the paperwork from tra back in time. I can understand them having a cut off time for the online application , but they could be a bit more understanding about getting documents to them.

I would defenatly go with the above, do not use the royal mail. Once it leaves the UK it cannot be tracked. DHL/UPS can deliver to OZ in 3 days trackable all of the way and signed for at the other end.

If you go through interparcel they use dhl but at discounted rates, just sent my skills to be assessed, sent mon 1pm they arrived in canberra yesterday. it was really quick. hope this helps:idea:

Petal,

We are also still awaiting the outcome of our SS application! When reading some of the replies from everyone re the rushing game to get skills assessed, writing IELTS, submitting SS application before 2nd May 2011, my head starts to spin! Although we have our SS application submitted and acknowledged, we know about riding this roller coaster! We have had many close calls in the past just to get to this stage... I can identify with nerves being shot, because sometimes I feel like I eat, sleep, work Immigration 24/7, just hoping that they don't throw another unexpected curve ball our way!

I console myself by saying if it doesn't kill us, it will definitely make us stronger along the way, whether I end up with or without any nerves to spare!

Good luck with every step still to come!

Susan,

I am flying solo, I keep the OH updated and I have asked him to please look as if he understands the whole complex process, because at times, I just do not have the energy to get into all the hi's and low's.

The close calls we have had: Last year we made an appointment with a migration lawyer and he said that we are not eligible to migrate as my OH was not qualified yet although he had 12 years of working experience as a welder! I would not accept it and did my own research and discovered that once he was qualified by passing a trade test in his own country, we could go ahead and try and recognised his overseas qualification in Oz. Don't really know how to shorten our trip of obstacle upon obstacle! Thereafter we got hold of Australian Skills Assessment in the UK who facilitates getting overseas qualifications recognised as the equivalent to an AQF III. The OH passed everything and got e-mail confirmation on 9 December 2010 and just as we were thinking all is well and we have enough time, TRA, who is the assessing body for the skills assessment decided to appoint to other Organisations to have the skills assessed in future! The cut-off date to lodge the TRA was close of business 23/12/2010.

We were now waiting for the original confirmation of the positive skills assessment in the mail, and believe it or not, our postal guys decide this is the time to strike re wage disputes! Spoke to ASA who was kind enough to lend a helping hand and bend over backwards as they got the AQF III guys to re-issue another certificate. We then send our incomplete application to them in Melbourne, they inserted the certificate after having it certified by a Solicitor on our behalf to form part of our TRA application and I arranged for a courier to collect it from there and deliver it to TRA in Canberra. There was another day delay and guess what they acknowledge receipt on 21 December 2010 - 2 days before the cut-off date! If we missed this deadline, we had to go through VETASSESS or Victoria University for the positive skills assessment all over again, which could take another 12-16 weeks and we were going to loose the +-2000 pounds we paid for the AQF III!

By Grace alone we got a positive skills assessment just after 13 days and we could continue with the process! Thereafter we did IELTS in Feb. 2011 and got the results 25/02/11 and did the SS Application. Apologies for all the boring details, but that is my STORY!!!!!

As far as the Visa application: passports, birth certificates,IELTS(if required),Positive Skills Assessment with all the relevant docs that were send to TRA,Reference Letters from previous employers mentioning your salary,Tax Returns,Payslips from current employer,Certificates of qualifications,Marriage Certificate and photos for all applicants.

Good luck to you!

Well we got the AQF III :)

TRA getting ready to go (by courier!) and then we just have to wait... if they approve it within 5 days we might still get to come to Adelaide :biglaugh:

If not, we're going to go for WA - we might love it there and stay if not we can still head to adelaide later - just got to try and work out where to go now, all my research for months has been on SA and now I feel like I know nothing again!

Hi Wendy WA was my first choice went on a reckie last October and fell in love with the place, it's a lot more expensive cost of living wise but a amazing place having said that the more research I have done on SA it's certainly the place for me :) I am still waiting on TRA results and now judging by others timelines I should get it with a week to spare fingers crossed, but if it takes 8 weeks to get SA SS it's going to leave me with 3 days to lodge the visa before July changes come in!! Very stressed at the mo but I am plodding on trying to keep a step in front
