:arghh: Hi to you all,

this is our first post so we are a little nervous,

(i know it is not a good excuse for poor spillngs). We are hoping to move out to Adelaide sometime soon but we seem to have been waiting for ever.

We applied for visas using Global Visas (has anyone else used them)back in Jan/Feb 07

I received my trade recog.in April, our visas were applied for in April but since then we have received no indication of approval or refusal. When we contact Global they tell us that this is normal. We have applied for skilled visa as i am an electrician and my good lady is a nurse. We get a little worried when we read that other people have managed to obtain their visas in such a short time compared with ourselves.

Any info would be a great help.

Thanks

Nick&Rhiann,

PS.

Happy nwe yaer to you all

Hi Nick and Rhiann

Don't worry too much about what you read as there are so many different visas and some of them come through quicker than others.

Our visa process took a while. Skills assessment sent April 06, approved May 06, visa application in May 06, meds requested and police checks Nov 06, meds etc sent Dec 06, bond request (you may not be doing this part but we had to so we could get the last 5 points) Jan 07, bond paid Jan 07, visa granted Feb 07 and we arrived in April 07.

We came out on a 136 visa which gave us permanent residency from the outset. Which visa are you applying for? In your position, I would ask Global:

how much longer does it have to go on for before they will start chasing things up?

Is there anything you can be doing in the meantime and

lastly, ask them if it would help the case to phone the dept of immigration yourselves.

Good luck

Libby

hi there,

Its a bit weird you havent heard anything at all......

We are also on a 136 visa, my hubbie is an electrician, we sent ours in august and had our acknowledgment in nov, along with payment taken, we waiting to be sent for medicals now. We didnt use an agency we did it ourselves, but on the aspc website, all applications received before september have now all been processed, so either your agent hasnt sent your application or somethings gone a miss.

I'd ring them asap if you can

Let us know how you go on;)

Nick&Rhiann,

Must admit it does seem a long time from applying in April. Have you had it confirmed by Global that they received the application? We are with GoMatilda and they told us exactly when our visa application was delivered. Ours went in end of july and since then we have had receipt, case officer etc and meds done and now just the last wait fingers crossed.

May be best to try to contact either Global to find out why or if you get no joy try to contact processing center direct.

Good luck anyway and hope you get a good new years present.

Hi Nick and Rhiann

Glad to help...I rang the Aussie dept of immig in Adelaide on behalf of a friend and they were so helpful. Although they wouldn't give me detailed information they did get in touch with her.

If you are paying an agent for a service, then you should be getting information from them. We used Ian Harrop and they gave us a chart/ timeline that detailed how long each step would take. When we submitted something, the lady we dealt with (Sue - absolutely fabulous) would say right now we should hear back no later than x date and if we don't, then I can start chasing it on y date. We nearly always heard back before that but it helped to know that she knew how long to leave before asking people. If she sent an email she forwarded it onto us as well so we knew exactly what was going on.

As regards children...I have Emily 14 and Sophie 11. Emily OMG the dramas, tears and tantrums (I know that those who've met her will be amazed) but she was NOT happy about coming at first. Then she calmed down and begrudgingly accepted it. She did miss her friends and still does - it is hard when life goes on for those left behind and you aren't included anymore and can only watch and MSN should be burned IMO as it doesn't help.

The first school we sent her to, well she wasn't happy and it was for 3 months during which she wasn't too happy although, bless her, she did try. We bought a house and moved nad now she is settled down wonderfully. She is happy, socialising, goes down to the beach etc with her friends and doing all the things I moved to other side of the world for.

Good luck adn let us know how you get on come Monday/ after the New Year.

Hi to you.

Be patient, it really does take forever for it all to come together. It will happen though!!!

My husband was accepted for a job back in August, we have just had the medicals done and awaiting police checks to come back, so we still have a wait. Anticipate moving around April or May? Possibly?

Good Luck

Hi folks - Just wanted to say hello to all my fellow Lancastrians! I originally come from Bacup but came to Oz via Doncaster so I think I am an honorary Yorkshire woman! (courtesy of the hubbie) It will be nice to have you around. I seem to be surrounded by white roses! Good luck in your applications - yes it does take forever but be patient, it will happen (especially if you are paying an agent!). Let us know if we can help you in anyway.

Hi Joanne,

We found it all ok really, its just hard finding the right visa for what you need, but we went on websites etc and researched for a while before. The paperwork is massive but its all pretty straight forward, personal details etc, so just make sure you check and double check everything before posting, for the money an agent would have cost it was worth the effort, and only took a couple of weeks to get our heas round.

Hope that helps
