JP Retired ok to certify docs??

Hi,

 

Desperately trying to find someone to certify our docs for 176 visa, but so far been getting ridiculous quotes!! Managed to find a retired JP who's willing to certify docs but will DIAC accept this if she's retired??

We used a solicitors in Baildon - Bradford its not to far from yourself they charged around £40.00 for all the documents we had certified and then there was a few extra ones that he did for free.

what do you call a ridiculous amount ? we used a solicitor local to us they usually charge £5 per document but did ours for £40 for the lot !!
