Hi All

just started all process. Hubby has job offer and is jumping through required hoops with the Australian medical council. We have been told once they are satisfied the visa sub 457 will begin and I have no idea on length of time so I want to get organised and start thinking of medicals as my son has mild Asperghers ( which is not a educational issue as school) but he has a statement to he could previously attend a speech unit. This is now defunct, but statement still there. looking at previous posts know this is a potential problem_ any advice on best places for medicals and / or documentation needed will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Helen

Hi Helen, our son Ethan has high functioning autism, we were advised from one migrationt expert that we were unlikely to get a visa even though it is very mild, How wrong he was :biglaugh::biglaugh:. Ethan does not have a statement, Regarding the medicals i provided a letter from our GP stating that he does not have any medication, nor has he ever seen the doctor with his ASD. A letter from the paedetrician and SALT stating that he was discharged. A full school current report from his teacher and headmaster and a letter from autism outreach team again detailing his strenghts and some weakness, (youve got to be honest at the end of the day). The doctor at the medical stated he was a cat B applicant and we always knew he would be referred which he was. He also stated that we could provide a specialist report if we wanted, but i had read these can cost up to £600??? so we told him would chance with the info we had supplied. There is a list of places which do the meds on the diac website, we went to Birmingam, a bit far from you.

And Hey presto a week after been referred a visa!! Obviously all children are different, i would just suggest supply as much info as you can.

Hope this helps Lisa

Hi Lisa

Thanks, that it very useful information! It really given me some leads on who I have to collect support / info from. You are right every case is individual and I hope it goes smoothly. Congratulations on your application. I have to say it is a little scary jumping into the unknown with Max. We have been in the system here since he was four( originally for verbal dyspraxia, so we know the ins and outs! Max is at the stage where practically the only support he needs is empathy at school etc ( being aware it rakes him a little longer to adjust to new ideas) but generally he is a star- hopefully this is reflected!

Helen x again thanks it was a great help.
