Hi we have booked the flights and fly out on the 4th September to Adelaide.

We have nearly sorted everything out for going ie shipping, cat transportation etc but are wondering if any one knows who to use for one way holiday insurance and how long should it be for ?

Thanks in advance

Hi, we just took the standard insurance offered by our travel agent. Covered us for a couple of months I think until we could sort things out at this end.

You need to check the small print. Most standard holiday insurance only covers you if you are resident in UK and most importantly returning to the UK. You do need one way insurance or it will not be valid.

We took out one way insurance to cover us for our journey and for 2 weeks in Oz until we had sorted out insurance there. Can't for the life of me remember who with though.

I agree with rammy girl - be very careful with the travel agents they only normally cover you if you are returning to the UK if they do offer you single cover you really need to check the small print....We have always used the POST OFFICE UK, I think the phone number is - 0800 169 9999....you just need classic single trip cover....it does appear expensive when you think it is only one wat, but you are covered for so much more than standard travel insurance...

Try Go Walkabout its about £90 and covers for about 21 days after you arrive, normal travel ins doesn't cover you unless you are a uk resident and returning to uk.

Hi we are just about to choose who to use for shipping the cat. We are pretty certain we are going to use Golden Arrow as they seem to do everything for you including import permit. Some other quotes look cheap but they dont include the permit. We live in Manchester and they will even pick her up from here to take to them(for a fee).
