Hi

I am trying to apply under the following (System Administrator) and was wondering if anybody had applied for the same and could forward me their work experience /job description. I want to get an idea of what to put down on paper. I have heard that is had to be a detailed two page description

Thanks

H

Hello, i'm going through the same thing at the moment and am about to submit my references. They are about two pages in length and outline main tasks, time spent in the job, hours worked (has to be 38 to class as FT) salary (god knows why).

Here's the link from the ACS website for FAQs - it says about half way down what to include, as long as you get all that in you should be fine - well, if you're a sys admin anyway :)

Good luck, let me know how you get on, we maybe competing for a place if the quota gets filled up!

22. What information needs to be contained within the employer reference?

This Reference should:

  • show the official company or government department letterhead of the organisation which employed you

  • show in the letterhead the full address of the company, any telephone and fax numbers, email and website addresses

  • be from your supervisor or the manager of the human resources department –references from colleagues at the same level or below are not suitable

  • be signed by an authorised person whose name and position is typed or stamped below the signature – a signature which cannot be identified will not be accepted and include the following information:

• the direct contact number of the person writing the reference• the exact period of employment• the required working hours per week• whether that employment was permanent or temporary• whether the employment was full-time or part-time• the position(s) held• the main duties undertaken• the salary earnedPositions should not be described by generic titles, but according to the nature of the duties undertaken.

Letters of appointment or contracts are not accepted.
