Well there looks to be a lot of good news on this page, so it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that my skills reassessment was rejected this morning. The covering letter explained that my references were more in keeping with my original code. I did fear that would happen since I wrote the refs and got my employers to sign them so they were heavily weighted.
Heads a bit foggy at the moment so not going to make any decisions today. Looks like either applying to Sydney or shelving the idea all together.
Good luck to the rest of you, I sincerely hope you get better news!
Sorry to hear that Mark - hopefully something will come up for you.
I did a similar thing to you with the references, so now I'm a bit (more) worried. Its a catch-22 situation because it's difficult to know how far you can revise your application without undermining the first one.
"It was the best of times, the worst of times".....
Blimey, it really is a journey this isn't it? I am really sorry for you Mark, personally, if it's really want you want, I would go for Sydney and go contracting for a couple of years perhaps? Build up a nice stash and then move on to where you want to go....worth it in the long run.
For me this review is pretty much the only chance we have left and with our eldest due to start secondary school next year, I don't feel like we can put our lives on hold for too long. Trouble is, I just can't stand the thought of staying here anymore.
Very sorry to here that Mark, but please don't give up. You've still got options with NSW or you could possibly try another assessment as Network Administrator, there is so much crossover with most the IT roles that many people fit into 3 or 4.
Congratulations to path2aus, any tips on filling out section F (commitment to South Australia) on the online form
Very sorry to hear Mark. You still have some option as Paul said. Don't give up.
Paul, I just did some research online and wrote just 200 words. Mainly picked up details from the immigration south Australia website, WIKI and some information from Southaustralia.biz. Mainly stressed how SA is better to live compared to other big cities of Australia, cost of living, job opportunities, real estate etc.. I was worried I wrote pretty less but finally it seemed fine. Best of luck on your application.
I feel that SA are pretty quick these days, Oidara you should hear something by the early next week. 3 weeks seems roughly the average. Best of luck to you too. Thanks for all your wishes, now we move on to 176, hopefully can get it lodged ASAP.

Bad luck, Mark. You must be feeling pretty fed up with the whole thing now. Like the others have said, though, there are still some options if you can muster the energy to go for them. Where there's a will, there's a way!
Gutted for you, Mark. Don't shelve it off all together though because you'll always wonder what if.... can't believe they didn't give you Sys Analyst though. I see that's gone to low too now :-(
Thanks guys. Looks like we are going to give Sydney a go. I can't find anywhere on their website that shows planning levels so i've emailed them to ensure places are still available. Sadly their isn't a poms in sydney forum so it's going to be more difficult to find people going through the same things.
