Using my iphone 4 in adelaide

Hi everyone...............Not to sure where to place this, and searched a few different forums, Wondered how everyone got on with there iphone over there, hubby is due to fly out 9th november, and im due to follow with kids. We intend to take our iphone 4 with us as they are our phones and were on a pay as you go, and at the moment we are with O2 network and have heard that we have to get it unlocked for any network, but sometimes when plugged up to itunes it may go back to factory default settings............ Has anybody gone through the process for there iphone,

 

A little confused of what i need to do, any help would be really appreciated:smile: cheers guys

Where did you buy them ? If they were direct from Apple then they will already be unlocked. If you got them from a network such as o2 then i believe they won't unlock it to any network until it is 12 months old.

 

As far as i am aware changing the network won't make it go back to factory settings. I have one bought direct from Apple and have changed networks 3 times on pay go with no problems, simple sim swap.

O2 unlock then for £10. There's a form you fill out on their website, and they will unlock it officially within 14 days.

Had our phones for just over a year now, and we got them from the O2 shop so im thinking that i will have to do the form which your talking about (Leigh), and so once this is done it'l be a simple thing as purchasing a new sim over there in Oz to use like your saying (robeaves), any network you would reccommend or they they just like back here, they all have different benifits! O2 should unlock them no problem in that case. My experience of the networks is limited as we don't move until December, from what i have researched Telstra is the biggest network but their customer support is a bit shoddy. My sister has been there for 5 years and started with Telstra but left them due to support issues, she is now with Vodafone and is quite happy with them. I think its very much like here, it will come down to personal preference. My plan is to test each one (which is what i did here) to find the best coverage and amount of data for the right price.

I'm with virgin but they're all much of a muchness really. Telstra has superior coverage outside metro areas though.

 

Make sure you get micro sims as the iPhone 4 uses them.

Do they do Microsims?

 

If not, I was thinking about getting a sim cutter to take with me, which basically makes any normal sim a micro-sim!

Yes they do ! I bought a cutter to just in case there is a network like the UK GifGaf that doesnt do them.

All networks supply micro sims now. Nokia have started using them as well as apple.

Try a Kogan SIM and their unlimited $299/year plan that runs on the Telstra network and consider buying an android phone.
