Latest Skills List??

Hi, does anyone have a web address for the latest skills assessment? Agent tells me my occupation is not on SA, but sure it was when the new list came out a few months back... has there been a newer / confirmed one since?

Thanks all x x

Just saw your other post. If you're a "Program or Project Administrator (511112), then that's still on the list, right at the bottom and still with medium availability. But maybe that's not your exact occupation?

Yeh, long story but i'm re-applying under what I wanted to the first time (Grr!!! $500 later!) so now i'm going under my proper occupation... Marketing. Not on adelaide tho.... so I guess that means we have to go for ACT :0( Not a choice of mine if I'm honest but if it gets me closer to my dream then I guess thats the way to go! x

Sorry you've had such a rollercoaster ride so far. We also had to change our occupation as it went off-list just as we were about to apply for SS. We've now been reassessed and have submitted our SS application, anxiously hoping the same doesn't happen again!

Can you not apply for the 175 visa with your occupation? I know it takes longer but if it means going where you want to be instead of having to spend 2 years in ACT, then may be it's the lesser of two evils? (Not that I'm calling ACT evil - never even been there!)

Yes, it's a permanent residency visa. DIAC quotes 18 months, but people are generally getting them faster than that (12-15 months) and there are no restrictions on which state you go to, unlike with the 176. Good luck with your IELTS results!

Thank you! Got to wait another 6 months for VETASSESS now, which is a nightmare cos just waited 6 and get negative... they said it may be quicker but not getting my hopes up. SS i've seen people get in days but of course won't need this if on 175... I'll def mention this to my agent... although we may need the points from SS....

Grrrr... Crystal ball for xmas please santa!! x

Wow, are VETASSESS really that slow?? What a nightmare! We were assessed by ACS, who quote 12 weeks but have been processing in as little as 5 or less weeks lately. Poor you for having such a long wait ahead. Still, I guess it will teach you patience if nothing else!

Good luck!

OMG I can't believe it, my occupation (project or program administrator) has gone from high to low! I could've nominated database administrator instead, but I didn't see that on the list before, and now I've paid vetassess and am waiting to hear back! Gutted, I am not even expecting to hear back until January as it is. What do I do, do I wait to hear from vetassess and hope program administrator is still on the list in 4 months? or do I apply for another assessment of database administrator and hope it stays high availability? £400 (plus £200 to notarise my docs) is a lot of money. gutted.

Hi Regina. Sorry I cannot comment on what you should do as i'm not really familiar with the options when it comes to changing your occupation in the middle of an application... but yes, I also saw that project administrator had dropped to a low availability... not sure what impact this will have tho.

I have now been in talks with my agent and am swapping occupations and yeh, another $500 for us too!! :0(((

Hi Regina,

I don't know how VETASSESS works as our skills assessment was with ACS. But I would say that it's unlikely your occupation will hang on until January if it's already low - sorry. Of course anything's possible but, if you're keen not to waste time, then I would contact VETASSESS and ask if you can withdraw your application and switch to a new occupational code. Failing that, just lodge a new application. It costs a lot of money, obviously, but if getting state sponsorship and a 176 is important to you, then it might just be something you have to swallow. We ended up paying for ACS twice as our original occupation went to special conditions. Good luck.

ETA: I obsessively track the SSML at the moment in the hope our second occupation won't go off list, and your occupation has been on Medium for the last 20 days and just went to Low today. It could hang on at Low for several weeks - others have - but I think January is pretty unlikely from what I've noticed with the other occupations.

cables - great news on IELTS! And I wish you luck on your new skills assessment. Hope it doesn't take too long for you.

Congrats Cables on your IELTS! At least that's some positive news to hang on to.

Oidara, thanks for the advice. I know in my heart the occupation will have gone by January. I've contacted VETASSES to see if I can switch to another occupation, I suppose I'll have to wait, but I'm doubtful they will let me do that. If I do get a positive assessment for program administrator, I could always hope that they will add it to the list next year. What a stress!

Good luck to everyone. x

It is indeed a stress! I hope you manage to figure out a good solution. ACS were very sympathetic about us switching occupations (well, asking for a review) and said it happens a lot, so you never know. There is a lot of overlap between many occupations so it's not like any of us are trying to manipulate the system. It's just bad luck that we all opted for such a popularly nominated occupation first time around! Good luck!

Hi Cables

Please try the link below for all of the latest SMP lists:

http://australia.gov.au/topics/immigration/state-migration-sites

Meanwhile, I see that you scored 5.9 in one of the modules of your recent IELTS. Is the overall score of 8.5 going to count as 8.0 for Superior English?

I should've read this forum before I e-mailed you last night, obviously!

From everything you have said, both on here and in your e-mail this morning, it doesn't sound as if you will have any problems wih your new skills assessment. If it were me, I'd draft your employer's description of your work duties myself and then just print it on the employer's headed paper and get one of the Big Cheese bosses to sign it. You have far more incentive to analyse ANZSCO with a fine toothcomb than your boss has!

Why will your new skills assessment take 6 months, please? Is it because 12 months has to elapse since the date when your master's degree was awarded?

Cheers

Gill
