176 visa questions

Hi-

A few questions please re getting ready for submitting our 176 when the time comes....

Anyone know what docs are required to send and whether cert copies or originals?

We have a immigration police cert dated 29/9/11- will this be ok or do we need another?

Is it worth doing medicals Whilst waiting on SS to save time after or is there plenty of time once 176 is lodged?

Thanks for your help

List of docs can be found here

If you are doing an e-application (ie online) you only need the originals, scanned in on a colour scanner and uploaded to your online document manager thing (you get a link when you submit your application).

Its valid for 12 months I believe, so as long as you're lodged and have a CO by then, you should be ok. Worst case scenario, you need to get another one done, but not a massive issue hopefully :) It does have implications for when you have to validate though - which would be 29/9/12 - can you get to Oz before then?

Depends on how quickly things are moving really - imho its not worth it, the clinics don't appear to be that booked up, even in school holidays (when I imagine more people want to use them due to families emigrating), worst case scenario, you have to wait a week or two, or go to a different clinic. There's loads of time after your 176 is lodged - you're meant to get it done within 28 days of getting your Case Officer assigned, but if you have good reason for not (ie you can't get an appointment - don't think I've heard of that being an issue for anyone though) then you get an extension. If you wanted to front load, and 176 applications were moving quickly, you could get them done after you had lodged, but imho not worth doing whilst waiting for SS, but that's just me.

HTH a bit, good luck :)

(PS don't stress about Primary School teachers on the SSMP list - its been medium for a bit now, and seeing as its the only way of getting a PR visa for Primary School teachers at the moment, if it were going to go fast, it would have by now imho).

Hi Anna;

The docs are basically the same ones which you would have sent to get your skills assessment. A few additions would be Birth Certificate,marriage certificate etc.

I have attached the URL which will give you the complete list of docs needed :

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/176_checklist.pdf

Never send original docs..certified copies should be just fine..

You can do medicals and PCC before hand and send them but there's a catch : They are usually valid for 12 months only and DIAC insists that your initial entry must be before these 2 docs expire.SO if you plan to move within this time frame then go ahead and do them..it definitely saves some time..
