transporting a tent

Hi, we are just waiting to sell our house and then we can finally emigrate after a very very long wait !! We have had a few quotes for transporting our furniture and belongings and have been advised against taking the childrens bikes and our tent. Our tent is a very good tent which is going to cost double to rebuy in Oz and we probably wouldn't get a quarter of what we paid for it if i sell it second hand before we go.Has anyone taken over a tent and had any trouble or are the removal companies just being over cautious.Thaks in advance Clare,Tim and family

I would bring it over, you're right about it costing you double. Just make sure its clean. We brought over a massive trampoline, we cleaned it and wiped it with Jayes fluid (in fact we poured extra in the packaging) we had no issues except it stunk of jayes for ages after we got here.

We packed the kids bikes too. Just made sure the tyres were clean and again covered in jayes.

Our removal company told us to put jayes fluid on all the out door stuff.

We had no issues at all and we had a 40ft container.

Good luck

Darren

Yep, bring it all! We also used jeyes fluid to clean everything, including the bags everything was packed in (the box marked tent/camping equipment wasn't even opened by customs at this end maybe the stench of jeyes put them off.....all tho the box marked handbags was!)) The only thing we did was throw out all of our tent pegs (couldn't be bothered cleaning them) and bought new which we packed with the tent. Also bought bikes, kids scooters etc.

yeah as everybody else has said bring everything for outdoors we had 2 family tents shipped & 4 bikes ,& loads of camping equipment as said before we dumped our pegs just in case , but they never even looked @ our camping stuff , was most annoyed as i spent ages washing everything down with Jayes fluid ,. & Camping equipment is expensive too so bring it all . Good luck.
