457 visa cancellation?

Hi, I am currently on a 457 visa and have been for the last 3 months. My employer has put in a nomination for a 856 visa for me (has skills assessment done, and have been working in my profession for 8 years). I have also submitted my application (with medicals, all docs and police checks) for the 856 visa.

 

If their nomination is declined (or my application is declined) then I appreciate i dont get a refund on my application fee, but does my current 457 visa get cancelled as well? Or can i still stay on my current 457 visa until that expires. Or do i have 7 days to leave the country. Any thoughts appreciated as i have done both my 457 visa and this new 856 visa on my own, rather than through an agent.
