Do I need to fly into SA to validate SS 176 Visa?

Been granted my 176 visa this morning. Looking ahead to keep funds down I'm going to stay with a friend in Melbourne (for free) while I search for a job in Adelaide as recruiters not really taking my applications serious enough at the moment because I'm still in the UK. Free accommodation is nothing to be sniffed at and would make things so much easier financially. However, with my state sponsorship am I required to land in SA to validate visa. Or would Melbourne suffice for now??? Any help would be appriciated.

My understanding is that it does not matter where you validate it, we will in fact be validating ours in Sydney later this year, you just have to fly into Australia before the date given.
