Hey there Poms!!!

We have been working very hard for the last 6 years to MAKE THE MOVE, and although few people believed we could, we did make it happen! Yesterday we were granted our 176 PR visa :-)))

We are really happy, of course, and ready to book our flights and accommodation!

Considering our jobs and stuff to do here, we are thinking about moving in December. The thing is, that we know school holidays start soon after our arrival, and we wonder if that would be a disadvantage for us while looking for long term rentals and jobs and so on. Alternatively, we could make the move in November.... Please let us know your opinion, so that we can make the best choice!

Thanks in advance!!!

Yes, the school holidays usually start early-mid December so if you wanted to sort out schools, it might be better to come in November. That would also give you the option of starting your kids at the end of the last term, and they'd have the chance to make some friends who they could then catch up with over the long holidays.

In a lot of job fields as well things tend to go a little 'dead' over the holiday season.

Congratulations on your visa grant though, and welcome to the forum - it probably feels like the end of a very long journey, but in fact it's just the beginning!!!

Hi and big congratulations on getting your visa!

In my opinion November would be a better time in moving here. December is a very busy time in terms of rentals and every slows down with regards to jobs etc.

Good luck with whatever you decide...if you are still planning on December - start getting your short term rental booked as many get booked very early as its the holiday season.

Welcome and Congratulations!! Definitely November or earlier. As said above December is a bit mad all round and the job situation is a bit quiet then too. Good luck with the planning and the journey :)

The earlier the better. The rental market dies off a bit in Dec. Oct / Nov you will have more choice. We arrived the beginning of Nov which was far enough away from xmas so family in the UK were not too upset and also there was a choice of properties (sort of). I have noticed that there seems to be more rental choice in the winter than the summer.
