Medicals referred

Hi All

Following family medicals, one of us has been referred while all others are finalised.

Anyone have any idea how long the referral process takes? We are fairly sure why they have referred it and are confident it wont be an issue but given that 3 out of the 4 of us are completed, we would just like to know how much longer we have to wait - especially as all other requirements are met and this is the last hurdel before visa grant (hopefully!).

Thanks for any advice you have.

Hi Joseph,

It was the same for me. My medical results were referred whilst the other three were finalised. Again, it was entirely expected as I assumed I was going to fail the medical (I've had a heart op. and need lifelong 'management').

Hard to remember exactly how long I was referred for but it was hours/days as we received the visa 9 days after the medical.

I was checking the online system daily and noticed before going to sleep that my health requirements had changed to finalised. Woke up in the middle of that night and the status had changed to visa grant notice issued.

It gets really exciting from here - good luck!

All ours were finalised except hubby's which was referred but it was only a couple of days before his was finalised and we had our visas within hours of that.

Good luck, you are almost there now!

Hi

We're in the same boat as well with 1 referred and the rest finalised last week. We are almost sure we know what it is and the agent also said not to worry as they don't think it's a problem but you still do worry.

Hopefully the wait won't be too long for you :)

Thanks Leanne,

Im afraid to say our CO hasn't been overly helpful so far - I did email but don't have high hopes. The positive replies on here are encouraging though. Good luck with your meds too and hope u hear soon.

Mine was also refered and it took about 3 days before finalised. I remeber so well the highs and lows of all those steps of immigration. Now it seems long ago (just a year ago). It is a bit like giving birth he he he. Painful, but so exciting about the new life...

My husband logged on this morning and all meds are now finalised so it took 6 extra days for ours so hopefully you'll hear something soon.

Glad to hear things are working out for everyone! I have a question re. Continuing medical care.

My husband and I have our visas, flying out next month. However I have a long term health condition that needs regular monitoring and check ups at outpatients here in the UK. This was all declared as part of the medical and I was surprised that I got through. What should I be doing to prep for the move medically and what do I need to do when I get there? How do I get a doctor and get referred to the care of a specialist?

I am excited about the move but really really worried that my health isn't compromised as it has been a bit fragile of late. Can anyone give me some advice and reassurance?

Thanks

Hi Karen,

We haven't moved yet so maybe someone can give you better advice, but for us, I'm getting detailed referral letters from the specialists here and asking the exact title of the specialists we should see in Aus. When we arrive in August I'll make sure to find a good GP and explain the situation to them. I would expect them to be the first port of call, and to refer us onward.

If this is the wrong approach I would be more than happy to be corrected!
