Allocation dates for General Skilled Migration applications
General Skilled Migration (GSM) processing centres allocate applications in accordance with priority processing arrangements; to meet the Migration Programme planning levels set by the government.
The tables below list the earliest lodgement dates for applications that have been allocated to processing teams. You can use this information to determine when your application will be allocated and to ensure your application is complete and ready for assessment.
This information will be updated in early March 2016.
This page no longer includes information about the pre SkillSelect visas (subclasses 175, 176, 475, 487, 495, 496, 885 and 886) because these applications have either been finalised, capped and ceased, or are currently allocated to a visa processing team.
Effective 15 September 2015, the minister set priority processing arrangements for certain skilled migration visas. Allocation dates outlined below reflect these priority processing arrangements.
Achieving a faster visa decision
Most ‘complete’ applications are finalised within three months of lodgement. Incomplete applications are less likely to be finalised within three months of lodgement because additional documentation may be required before the application can be finalised.
A ‘complete application’ has all required documentation, including form 80, form 1221 and police clearance certificates, uploaded to ImmiAccountand health examinations undertaken before the application is allocated for assessment.
Refer to the document checklist for your visa subclass for details of required information. Attach documents to your application or update your application details using ImmiAccount.
If you cannot attach documents using ImmiAccountthen you can provide additional documentation by emailing scanned documents directly to the processing team once your application is allocated.
If your application cannot be finalised immediately you will receive advice that your application has been allocated to a processing team. This will occur within two weeks of your allocation date and provide an email address for contact with the processing team. Any questions you have about your application should then be directed to that email address.
GSM SkillSelect allocation information
Please note that Migration Programme planning levels take precedence over priority processing arrangements in determining the order in which applications are considered. Allocations occur in accordance with the requirements of these planning levels. This means that when necessary applications in Priority Group 4 may be allocated ahead of Priority Group 3.
Visa Subclass Priority Group 3 Priority Group 4 189 Skilled – Independent N/A 02 January 2016 190 Skilled – Nominated 02 January 2016 N/A 489 Skilled – Regional 02 January 2016 05 December 2015
- N/A - indicates that the relevant visa subclass is not specified for this priority group
Further information is available about Processing of State, Territory and Regional Nominated General Skilled Migration visas and Priority processing groups and order of processing applications on our website.
GSM priority exempt allocation information
Subclasses 489 – Renewal, 489 – Subsequent Entrant and 887 Skilled - Regional are exempt from the priority processing direction and applications are processed in the order in which they were received
Visa Subclass Application Date 489 Second Provisional Stream (Renewal) 18 January 2016 489 Subsequent Entrant 18 January 2016 887 Skilled – Regional 15 October 2015
