Normally the restrictions are given in the letter/ visa.I'm currently on a Bridging A visa awaiting an 820 visa and it says the same restrictions from any previous visa apply to mine e.g.I was on a working holiday visa before which means I can only work 6 months at a time, however I was able to apply to have that restriction removed. Can't remember the details but you can find them on my blog: http://kacymru.wordpress.com/2012/10/15/compiling-and-submitting-my-820-onshore-partner-visa-application/
