Anyone recommend a decent Estate Car

Question to the petrol heads out there.......

 

We are hoping to ship out to Adelaide in July. I have been checking the Aussie internet sites for cars but many of the models we know over here dont seem to be sold in Australia - Ford Focus estate and Ford Mondeo estate being the main two we would have gone for........

 

Anyone recommend a decent estate car model that doesnt have the traditional aussie huge engine in.

 

We were thinking max of 2litre and preferably a diesel. ie something reasonably economical....notice skoda have just started out there but probably a bit rich for us at the moment.

 

Oh and it will have to be second hand..

When talking about cars practise saying "stationwagon" instead of estate car. Sorry can't offer any advice about small engine cars as until recently they were what the wife/ girlfriend/ daughter drove in a sedan style/ or hatchback and the family car was a 6 cylender, 3-4 l car.

We have just purchased an Astra wagon. Diesel models still appear to be few and far between as far as we can see. They do a Corolla estate here - size similar to the Astra.

You can still get focus wagons here also.
