Waiting Waiting and More Waiting !!!!

About time my lengthy migration report has been sent out to me yesterday from the representatives (Immigration Unit), who are conducting my Visa application. I have been waiting 7 weeks for it, this report is suppose to tell me everything how to get a suitable visa for Australia, from what paperwork is required to the overall timescales of this process. I have been having ups and downs about if I am eligible to gain a visa or not, probably because throughout my life I have missed out on my dreams and ambitions. I really want the visa application to be part of an enjoyable experience, just like when I was a little child and waiting for Christmas Day. But on the other hand I did not want to get to excited just in case I was not eligible for a Visa. Well hopefully I will know by tomorrow. It may sound silly but the biggest thing I am worried about it's gaining work references, I start a new job this Saturday 26th April 2008. This company said they would not give me this position if I was emigrating to Australia in the future. Which is understandable, but I have been unemployed for a month now and could not afford to be unemployed any longer, so I mentioned to this company that I will not emigrate if I gain this position. (which is a lie). I have been worrying about gaining a reference from them I know full well they would not be happy to give me a reference.

I have also got some previous employers who have in the past refused to provide me references. I have a long way to go yet before my family and I gain our Visa and can leave for Adelaide, its done my head waiting 7 weeks just get this report, lol. I assume you lot have had the same waiting and worrying times regarding waiting for your Visa. More stress need to sell two houses now. Adelaide you better be worth it lol. thanks for reading this just needed to get it off my chest....... Tony (Newcastle upon Tyne)

Hi there,

We got our 136 permanent visa through an agency called Visa Connections, I am sure they have offices throughout the U.K.

Basically we arranged a meeting with the agent and she told us there and then wether we would be eligible for a Visa as they did not want to waste ours or there time and this was free.

They also told us that we would have our Visa within 10 months and true to there word it came within 10 months.

The hardest part is the waiting as no matter how confident your agent is you still get nagging doubts when nothing drops through the post or the phone does not ring, but you just need to hang in there.

So Gamba & Kerry please do not give up on yor dreams as there are plenty of decent agents out there and just look at it that this is just a hurdle that needs to be passed.

Cheers

Derek & Jak

Hi Tony, I'm in a similar position, I've only been in my role for 5 months, and haven't told my boss yet, but I intend to be around a little bit longer as my finances need sorting anyway so I thought he doesn't need to know, some of the guys I work with know, but I have told them "oh it'll be 2-3 years yet"

It stops them asking questions and if it gets back to my boss he won't worry with the timeframe, I've told my boss I would like to one day, and the rumour that i'll be 2-3 years has stopped any irritating questions or comments about my loyalty to the company, it's difficult keeping it a comlete secret so maybe leaking it that you would "like to" in "3-5" years may have the same effect, most of the poeple I work with don't believe me anyway, only the people on my shift know I'm serious. might help?
