Anyone done the AQF 3?

My husband has got to do his AQF in painting and decorating. It's not something we can get out of and do it a different way because of his age, so just going to go for it, but just wondered what is involved in the process and how long it takes roughly? Is it mainly about producing paperwork and then a practical assessment? We do have an agent now how I believe will help us a little bit but I think it is mainly down to us to do. (going to check with agent later though)

Is it something that he could easily fail if something goes wrong, or is it quite straightforward?
