G.P files

Hi any advice on G.P handover files? My G.P surgery has said for £50 per file they will give us a photo copy of our notes. But I was thinking as myself my OH and my daughter don't really have any medical history other that the usual ear infection,bad chest etc.. is ther any point in getting them?

Any advice on this would be great. We have our flights all booked and will be out there soon!!

Don't bother. If you have no specific medical history beyond your child's immunisation records you don't need to be shelling out that kind of dosh when you are leaving. 150 pounds is about $350 so about a week's rent here or groceries etc. If you were under the care of a specialist the specialist would provide as a courtesy to the new specialist a detailed letter but probably wouldn't charge you and if the new doc needed more info they would access it themselves.

I would only get your notes if there is anything significant like Rachel said. Your childrens red books will do for them as it has their imms in. I only got my Drs notes as I have severe allergies so thought it best, Didn't bother with Petes or the childrens, even though Niamh was born prem and had lots of health problems I had kept all the letters from consultants etc that the Drs get anyway so just bought them
