Tips on asking boss for a reference?

Hi all

 

I have the task of speaking to my boss to ask her for a reference. She is really nice and we get on well. However, I think she will have a fruit loop when I tell her of our plans and ask her for a reference. My other firms have been fine but I just feel like I can't bring myself to tell her.

 

Any helpful tips / advice on how you managed this tricky subject

Take her out for a drink after work and buy her some cocktails (everyone loves cocktails)

Tell her your plans and have reference already typed up on compamy paper, all it needs is her signiture

Have laptop and mini printer at your side. Print out in lady's loo's.

Then get her to sign refrence as she's signing for drinks on company expenses

Easy!

I would agree to write something up ahead of time for her to sign. best of luck---if you get on well she should be happy for you!
