Customs Clearance

Hi

Just a query on container clearing customs. Has anyone had to pay tax on new items they've brought in. I got golf clubs for my birthday in May but they are still in the box unused. We also have a printer for the PC which hasn't been opened. Are we likely to pay tax on these? Do customs open all the boxes?

Any advice gratefully received :notworthy:

We bought loads of new things, especially Manchester. Just remove the boxes or at least open the boxes, scuff the boxes up a bit then tape them back together. That's what we did. Will tell you of it worked, our stuff being 'done' next week!

:)Take them out of the boxes or open them and then tape them up with packing tape and mark the box looking like its an old box.

A mate who works for a shipping company says all the fuss about ozzy customs is just that.....a fuss about nothing, but it makes everone believe they are the toughest, we have met people who brought brand new , sofas, tv's bikes,....the lot and everything went through, just make the packing look old.
