Has anyone gone out on a temporary 457 visa whilst waiting for their 475 visa to come through?

 

I have my sponsorship application in to SA for a 475 but my OH has chatted to a company who have said they could most likely get him work on a 457. We ideally want to go on the 475 and are preapred to wait as this is a better visa but we have looked into the 457 in case he is laid off next year as there have already been redundancies in his work and chances are there could be more.
