We haven't yet started to apply as still researching the whole thing, but can anyone give me a rough estimate of visa costs etc. We are due to do a reccie next year and visit family in Sydney, don't know whether to wait until after that to apply, as the trip will be the deciding factor for OH. Or should we get the ball rolling now and validate the visa next year on the reccie, if it has gone through?? Help!! x

hi Tean

My husband and i (and 3 geogeous KIds) decided to make the move last summer, but found that our skills didnt get us through. So ive decided to go to uni and retrain so we are looking at going in approx 3-5 years. I know that when i go i dont want to come back. We are going over for a reccie in August (an excuse to see my best mate) it will be my 40th. So anyway in doing some research i picked up some really useful sites i thought might help you.

The cost, i felt for the visas i think will depend on which one you apply for and all how many of you there are.

I hope these help. The expo is a good place to start you get to ask people their fees. They give you loads of advice. They can even help with employment, if you already have your skills recognised you can take CVs along.

We were quoted 7k for a container to take our furniture over and approx 4k to take our dogs over ( one big one small) that sort of thing depends on the sizes (ie dogs and half container for couples.)

These may help, keep asking questions they are really great on here, and there is alot of advice. but when you ask for costs its hard because we are all different and you have to do this as an indidual. Maybe be more specific on the costs you want, maybe. Some people do the visas themselves to make it cheaper, some use an agent. The best thing i found was to research (and gosh you can do alot on the web) each cost individually. There are other forum sites out there (obviously not as good as this one) that are attached to agents one i liked was go matilda. Dont forget the obvious cost ie medicals and police checks ect.....

I hope this help

Terjo
