176 Visa - Not using an agent

Hi,

Is anyone applying on the above visa but doing it themselves? We submitted our application by post in Sept 2008 and everything was received. Just wondering what people are doing about their medicals and police checks and if anyone has heard back regarding their visa application.

 

Am seriously worrying now about trying to sell our house and if we rented we wouldn't get enough to cover the mortgage. Is anyone in the same boat. We do have some savings but am concerned as people are saying the cost of living is going up and some people are looking at moving back to the UK

 

Any advice is appreciated

Hi

We submitted our 176 in the same way at the beginning of December. We don't have an agent but are being helped by a family friend in Adelaide who used to work as an immigration consultant, so knows a lot more than us! We are not expecting visas until the end of 2009, so would not be looking to do medicals etc for a good while yet.

On the house front, we put ours on the market before Xmas as wanted to maximise on the equity and we are just waiting to exchange now (fingers crossed) We will then move into rented so that if we get that lovely call, we will be free. If Adelaide doesn't want us, we will be in a good position to buy a nicer house for less money hopefully!

we are looking at starting to aplly for our visa and are looking to go through nursing agency but the want my husband to enroll with the nursing boards do you know how to do this . do we go the the aus board then the nbsa or the other way round. on the house front our has been for sale for 12 months and no look but we think we are going to rent, if your mortgage is too much have you thought of changing to interest only.. hope this helps .
