Work Experience Not In Nominated Occupation ...

Hi,

I plan to apply for the SRS 475 visa.

If my nominated occupation is not the same as my current occupation - which I have worked as for > 2 years and would have met the 12 out of 24 months of recent work experience, will this still be acceptable?

I plan to nominate Graphic Designer, and have the relevant qualifications for it. I have work experience as a Sys Admin.

Please help?

Thanks!

Hi - We're on 475 too. I understand (from my agent) that they are fairly flexible.. yes, you can work in totally different profession, my OH is a ' information & business professional' but will prob be working in retail, but all fine.

We have friends in Adeliade who came over on the wife's skills, but the husband is the one working, and got the 12 months needed, as the wife fell pregnant within weeks of being here! So it doesn't even need to be you working if you're married???

HTH, ;)

Many thanks for your reply! Congrats on your move to ADL, I cannot wait to be there as well. Was there in Dec, and loved it.

You mean they wouldn't be bothered if I was working in a different occupation than my nominated occupation? I plan to nominate "Graphic Designer", but I have been a Systems Administrator" for the past 2 years.

I am just wondering if I would have to prove that I am "professionally qualified" as a Sys Admin because my qualifications are for a Graphic Designer.

I'm just about to apply online to be assessed by VETASSESS... just wondering if I should proceed.

God - have just re-read your original post. Crossed wires I think.. I was thinking you meant when you MOVE to Oz did you have to get a job in your nominated profession.. but now I see you mean for applying? So sorry.

Hmmm, I'm not sure, so wouldn't like tt say.

My advice would be call an agency (we used 1st Contact) - and you speak to someone who assesses your eligibility for a visa and will be able to answer that question. If I were you, I would play dumb, don't use words like Vetassess etc, and pretend this is your first initial inquiry.

It doesn't mean you have to use the agency or pay anything, but should give you the right info.

No worries...

Did you have to pay for initial assessment?

Hey there. This is similar to my Vetassess application. My degree was in Marketing but my experience is as a Community Worker. I did my application myself but spoke to an agent who gave me an initial chat and some advice which was free. They told me to apply to Vetassess in the occupation I would be proving my experience in as this would look better for the visa.

Vetassess only require you to have a degree, it doesn't have to match your nominated occupation. Hope this makes sense! Mine came back successful.

Hi brandyslad,

Did you apply to be assessed twice with VETASSESS? One for your Nominated Occupation and 2nd for your Current Occupation?

I am working as a Systems Administrator, but my qualifications are that of a Graphic Designer and therefore I plan to nominate "Graphic Designer".

I don't think I will be able to be assessed by the ACS for my current occupation because I don't have enough experience for it.

Do I have to be assessed twice?

No just the once. I nominated Community Worker, then sent of the degree cert and transcript. I fretted a bit about it but it was fine. The agent told me it made it clearer for the visa and SA sponsorship. As I had originally planned on nomintaing some sort of Marketing occupation because of the degree, I think Marketing specialist but then opted for Community Worker after getting advice.

Sent you a PM.
