Police Checks - have to do within 28 days?

Hi all,

Been asked for police checks & meds. Meds are booked & just about to send off for police checks, but it will probably fall outside the 28 days from when they were requested to when we will get them back.

Do the police checks have to be uploaded within the 28 days, or is it enough to upload something that says they have been applied for & will be uploaded soon?

Please help - might have to pay for the priority processing!!

Hi

Not sure if we can help or advise, but just to let you know we got our case officer on 27th January '09 just a few days before you. We were asked for our Meds/Police Checks within 28 days too.

We managed to book our medicals for the following Monday and sent our Police Checks off a couple of days later. We too were worried about the timescale so we did send them off on the Express Processing just in case.

However we did ask our agent and she was quite relaxed about it, saying as long as we had booked meds and sent off police checks, it wasn't too much of a problem, she just needed to keep the case officer upto date with timelines. Our Police Checks did come back quickly probably a couple of days longer than they should have taken, only due to the fact we had no post cos of the snow disruption.

Our only concern was after we had our Medicals the GP at the clinic went on holiday for a week so he didn't sign them off until last Monday, they were then posted to Sydney on 17th Feb '09.

Once we received the Police Checks we scanned and emailed them to our Agent who forwarded them onto our Case Officer. As far as we have been made aware they do not need the originals.

Once we had the Medicals we scanned and emailed a copy of the Receipts to our Agent who forwarded them onto our Case Officer.

Hope this helps

Lisa

God, it seems 475's are really getting actioned quickly now. Bit concerned because we can't go until next September and don't want Visa to arrive to early. Got until the 22 Apr to apply for Visa but we really need to drag it out somehow and get our Medicals done after September this year. It looks like you guys have only waited 2 months or so and have alread been asked for them.

Hi

If you look at our timeline you will see how quick it was for us too!! We want to go next Jan so we are ok but its difficult as we would liked to have had the option of more time! You will have to hope they ask for your info later and make sure you just book appts etc as late as you can!

Our police checks took longer than 10 days so I gently reminder them via a telephone call and they arrived few days after!

We also need South african checks and they take us out of our 28 days - our agent said that as long as we show we have sent them off with receipt to say been posted, etc and filed those then we should be ok.

She has also asked the CO for an extension

So I guess you could try that route if needs be.
