My answer is "As much as possible"

 

It will depend on what you want and what lifestyle you choose to lead.

I've seen many come over with a very small budget and do very well

 

You'll need something to live on for the first few months until you have steady income.

Rent money + bond which can be a 2k+

Car hire for a few weeks and then buying a car or 2.

 

You'd need $10,000 to $15,000 if you don't have jobs to walk into I guess.
