      I am sorry, but this is is an internet forum, and I was asking a question which I thought forums were all about?

      Many, many threads go off on tangents. I didnt imply you were hiding anything, I was just curious at to why you shredded everything when leaving the country.

      Again, sorry if you took it the wrong way.

      Its usually a debt recovery firm will try to retrieve outstanding debts. They buy the debts (or get paid a feww) and then set about recovering them. To be contacted by a solicitor sounds dodgy to me. I think it might be a scam.

      As others have said asking for statements from back then will help. Also contacting the credit card company direct. I'd suggest phoning rather than writing as it takes too long.

      Good luck and tell your mum not to worry. It won't affect her status at all.
