Can we get apply for our TFN from the UK?

Hi,

 

My wife Laura and I are moving out to South Australia on the 4th July 2012 and we are hoping to use the time that we have left in the UK wisely. I am aware that we can apply for our TFN online via the www.ato.gov.au website however, I was wondering if we could apply from the UK in preparation for our move next year. If so, will we get charged for doing this?

I think the rules say you have to be here and have an Aussie address. It only took about a week to come through so don't worry

Yes you have to have validated your visa, and even if you have and you are applying online in the UK you may get a message that implies that you need to be logging in from an Australian IP address.

Plus they will expect a tax return from you!

 

Wait till you are there it can be done quickly.
