Hi,

 

we have a rental for 4 weeks but nothing permanent until we decide which area to settle in. Can we still apply for TFN and Medicare etc if we only have a temporary address?

I think for medicare and TFN, they don't ask for permanent address. They just need you to provide an address to return/send the card or TFN number, so be careful, not to put your temporary address if you move soon, because the card/tfn will need several weeks to come.

I don't know about medicare as I'm not entitled to it but TFN usually takes about 28 days at least that is what I was told. I received my TFN letter in about 10 days.

My TFN took only a couple of weeks to turn up.

Our medicare card took about 10 days & my TFN took about 2 weeks. We've used our temporary address but knew we'd be here long enough for the cards to arrive.

We had both sent to our temp rental. We redirected our mail once we moved into our long term rental.
