Claiming child benefits

What are people's experiences of claiming child benefit through Centrelink? I started the process at the end of December and still nothing.

I think they quote up to 7 weeks, I took us about 6-7 weeks I think. You could always chase them up

Hi, they quote that all claims should be dealt with in 60 days.....lol.....what I do know is that they VERY busy at moment, I was on phone for an hour yesterday to them...just holding on and listening to some lovely music...

 

When we arrived, our claim seemed to take forever, so after weeks and weeks I did call them and said I really need them to process my claim etc and hey presto within 30 minutes my claim had been dealt with.

 

It can sometimes seem like forever but once they get it sorted its easy...also they do back date all payments to the date you submitted your claim....

There maybe a hold up as I have just rung them and could not get through due to the disasters that have happened recently. Aly.

iknow at the end of last year centerlink were about a month behind processing so that could be why

Hi all, just reading your posts about child benefit. I know that you cannot claim unless you have a PR. However, does anyone know if you can still get your England child benefit if you are on a student visa or 457?
