Anybody claim tax back from the UK?
can we claim tax back from the UK? If so has anybody done it? How do you go about it? Sorry so many questions ...
Hi there, yes you can, you need a P85 form, which I think you can download, but I got mine from my tax office before we left. Sent it back to them at the end of October and had my payment in my bank account on the 5th December.
if you arrived on the first of march i would not expect much.
It works better it you leave june july time from the UK then claim.
Try ringing them, it's a great experience.
Why better June/July, will they be less busy?
I guess ringing them is a waste of time? ;o)
i am guessing this is for an income tax rebate.
If you finished working at the end of feb you will get a few penny's back
If you finished working in June you will get some pounds.
You are taxed on the basis that you will automatically earn over your tax bracket..... lets say 4.8 K before being taxed
So by june you would have paid full tax based on 12 months, when you have only worked for 2 months, so have been over taxed, it is this money that you get back.
works better on the higher tax bracket you were in.
Don't expect to get the full years tax back, trust me i know from personal experience this will not happen.
Finding someone who knows what they are on about over the phone is a pure joy experience.
