Best Fish & Chips in Adelaide. Do you agree?

I've copied and pasted the article from Adelaide Now below. Link to it at the bottom of the post.

I've used the Jetty Road one in Glenelg before a few times as its our local one so to speak and always found it good. And the one in Victor Harbour was delish on a chill spring night after a day exploring. Was over at Granite Island but it wasn't a meal time so didn't eat there.

Not tried any of the others but wondered if other people had :)

They seem to have gone outside of Adelaide also, as some further afield are on the list.

Best fish & chips in Adelaide

CATCH the top ten fish and chips in Adelaide - eat in or takeaway - as judged by Advertiser food reviewers Samela Harris, Tony Love, Dianne Mattsson and Simon Wilkinson.

      1. SOTO'S FISH SHOP
      23 Semaphore Rd, Semaphore; ph 8449 1270
A SHORT stroll from Semaphore beach, just past the pub, Soto's is famed for its hand-cut chips which live up to the reputation, with the random shapes producing an abundance of crispy bits and pieces that will keep you nibbling away. A piece of flake is also good, with a fine casing of crunchy batter. Test your constitution on the carnival rides after your meal.

      2. STUNNED MULLET
8 East Tce, Henley Beach; ph 8356 7696
WITH seven choices of fish, available battered, crumbed or grilled, it's no surprise that this shop has won multiple seafood industry awards. Try flathead, barramundi or the lemon grilled atlantic salmon. There's a big choice of burgers (chevapchici, turkey etc) for those not wanting fish.

      3. BAY FISH SHOP
      27 Jetty Rd, Glenelg; ph 8295 2255
AN old-school fish and chipper delivers the goods in Adelaide's summer playground. Check out the window display to see what looks the freshest before placing your order. Fillets also available for sale to cook at home.

      4. DALRYMPLE HOTEL
Anzac Parade, Stansbury; ph 8852 4029
A CONE of fish (ask for the local whiting or gar) and chips and a cool beer on a Yorke Peninsula beach - it doesn't get any better than that. Stansbury's foreshore-setting makes it possible. Have a drink in the bar while you wait, then head for a spot on the sand. If you're just passing through and want some of the local catch to take home, Bart Pisani's farmgate shop, BA Fisheries, is a stone's throw away.

      5. MOCEAN
34b Alfred Tce, Streaky Bay; ph 8626 1775
Treats from the ocean are the specialty at Mocean in Streaky Bay. Line-caught whiting snapped up on the nearby jetty is beer battered or grilled and served with Mocean-made tartare, or ask for the delicious curls of lightly crumbed stingray, often available.

      6. COFFIN BAY FORESHORE
EP Farmer & Fishermen's Market, Coffin Bay foreshore
HEAD to Coffin Bay on Saturday and the Eyre Peninsula Farmer and Fishermen's Market and Port Lincoln Fresh Fish Company (20 Proper Bay Rd, ph 8682 2166) will be serving fish and chips, while Coffin Bay's Oyster Beds restaurant is offering salt and pepper prawns and calamari.

      7. LACEPEDE SEAFOOD
At the Jetty, Marine Parade, Kingston (South East); ph 8767 2549
ON THE foreshore with plenty of parking, you won't find anything more authentic than this family business specialising in local lobster while for your takeaway hit you can order the standard flake or step up to whiting, flathead and other fresh seafood snacks.

      8. THE ORIGINAL FISH SHOP
20 Ocean St, Victor Harbor; ph 8552 1273.
PEOPLE come from far and wide for fish and chips at The Original Fish Shop, the quintessential, definitive, copybook, real thing. Servings are generous, the oil is always nice and fresh, and the spirit of the place is as cheery as the business is brisk. The pride of Victor.

      9. THE REEF AT GRANITE ISLAND Granite Island; ph 8552 7555.
THINK spectacular locations for fish and chips and it's got to be Granite Island either from a proper table service plate sitting at tables outside or indoors with a view of the bay and the breakwater and the rolling hills. Or grab some takeaway and sit on the rocks or the pier enjoying the same view.

      10. PA'S CAFE
61 Franklin Pde, Encounter Bay; ph 85521055
THE traditional fish and chip spot of Encounter Bay has been reincarnated by the same people who started it a million years ago. There have been a few versions in the interim but now it brags some of the best proper fish'n'chips in the business and the beach complete with island view is right outside.

Yes indeed! Well actually I'm not much of a seafood fan but Soto's do the best hamburgers around here. My family has been going there for years.

As for the one at Victor, I remember many a family holiday in my childhood when we had fish and chips from there.

Sotos are fantastic. I'd say better than the famous Mary Jane's in Cromer!!!!!!!!!!

What about Brownies in Old Reynella and the Port Noarlunga fish and chips?
I'm sure that other people have their favourites too?

      Fine
Definitely Sotos - their chips are wonderful! Although I'm told the Chicken Shack at Gilles Plains do good chips too.... none of this freezer stuff!

Went to a good one in Beachport in the South East last week too - lovely fresh fish (but cooked from frozen chips unfortunately - they were still nice though, and huge portion for just $5!)

I can only be nice to one person each day....today is NOT your turn...and tomorrow isn't looking too hopeful either.

A fish and chip shop without vinegar on the counter, whats this world coming too

Prefer Soto's but didn't go much on the Granite Island one but (to be fair) that was a year or so ago.

Exactly. It's so basic that's why I forget!! (I have actually considered keeping an emergency box in the car with plastic cutlery, condiments including vinegar, for those emergency Semaphore moments).
