Do you have any idea where you and your OH might be working? Start from there, and find somewhere that is not too much of a commute, then look at schools afterwards. There are good schools all over Adelaide, it's finding a good job that will be the more challenging aspect.

      Hi Gary

We have two daughters aged 14 & 11 - ( ha, we lived in Leicester for a while too - Leicester Forest East, then THorpe Astley)...anyway, we live in Moana and my husband commutes to the City. My girls go to Tatachilla Lutheran College which is in Mclaren Vale. We are really really pleased with the school - it is a private school and we pay about $9k per year for both.

I can also recommend Cardijn College, which a fee paying school ( think slightyly cheaper than Tat) and is Catholic (although they do take non-catholic children)

      Good luck with your search

As I said, good schools all around, but if you ended up working at Gepp's Cross for example, then Moana wouldn't be very practical.

But saying that, people do travel from places like Mt Barker and Gawler to the city. Also kids travel quite some way sometimes to attend certain schools, but this is usually High school.

As Diane said,l would recommend finding where work is first.Adelaide is FULL of schools we were shocked at the choice!!We live in Brighton - Brighton High School has excellent reputation, but zoned.Catholic Private schools get grant from government so they are cheaper if you want to go down private route!!
Good luck with everything try not to stress too much Adelaide is fab, great place for families.Siobhan

I have been looking at Tatachila for my 7 year old, its quite surprising how cheaper they are though compared to England, also when you look at private schools to state schools their is a difference on the web site it looks a fab school, i have contacted them, i will be staying in seaford rise when we first arrive, not got jobs sorted as yet but i think i will stay around that area as i like it and stayed there before, its cheaper for junior school than the senior. do you know much about Moana school that school seems to become a lot better than before, have you heard much about the reputation??? they do beach activities, does Tatchila do much out side activities as they say on their web site?

Well, what a nice response from everyone, Thankyou very much.
I have tried finding work on web sites, but not took it to seriously, because I'm still in the uk.
We plan on moving to Adelaide in July/August so I might have to rent a holiday home for a few weeks until we have found our feet, unless I'm going the wrong way about things (more advise is welcomed lol).
Hey Sarah we still live in LFE opposite the red cow, what a small world, our kids most probably know each other if they went to the same schools.
Well I will be checking out the recommended places, it just that theirs so much to choose from and I don't want to end up in the wrong place, we want the feel good element when we get here not omg what have we done lol
im sure all will come together once we are there.
      Ty everyone
