      Safe Surfing Beaches?

Are any/all of the beaches around Adelaide reasonably safe for kids to boogie board/surf? Particularly the ones not too far south as we're likely to be based nearer to the Barossa. I've a 10yr old who loves getting in the water with his surfboard and (trying to) catch a wave or two!

we are also up near the barossa. The nearest would probably be seaford, moana, silver sands area, so about over an hour drive depending where you are. All good safe beaches.

Although they are not surf beaches, there are days when you can have fun with a boogie board on the more northern beaches, we went down to Grange last weekend (can't remember which day) and there was a bit of a wave, the kids were on their boogie boards and we had great time. There's a good sandbar you can stand on. I've seen surfers at West Beach some days too - it just depends on the wind and the weather. For young kids you don't really want big surf anyway. Moana/Seaford are probably the nearest surf beaches further south, but they can be quite rough at times and once I was at Moana it was pretty rocky/stoney underfoot (we were obviously in the wrong place!) whereas Grange for example is nice and sandy, so maybe a bit safer for young ones.

I also have young kids and they love to body board I think that beach is enough for them.
