We have no kids so space was not an issue. So we went for the ambassador hotel on king William street. Right in the city and close to banks tax office and Medicare office. About $80 a night so could become expensive if you stay for long. Got a job and a rental within 2 weeks.

Hi Luci

There is a lot of choice for accommodation It really depends on your circumstances as to what is a good option for you. Hotels are great but you have to eat out all the time so this can add to the expense. Short term rentals can be a good option for families as they are fully equipt and generally can work out cheaper if you get an all inclusive one. Also some of the holiday parks have cabins which are a good budget option, but probably not in the middle of winter? there are many sites to review and get an idea try Adelaide Short Term Rentals - Furnished rental accommodation Adelaide, South Australia, Adelaide Bound - making migrating to Adelaide, South Australia easier. Info for those wishing to emigrate to South Australia, Stayz Holiday Accommodation - 25,000+ Holiday Rentals across Australia and Accommodation holiday house rentals- TakeABreak.

good luck

Short term rental was our choice. We rented a house from Tamara (Homes Down Under). It was ace and very good value. We were picked up from the station and dropped off at the house by Tamara, had fresh bread, roast chicken, tea, milk etc provided. After a couple of days Tamara took us to do things like Centrelink, drivers license etc. She also provided us with a reference for when we applied for rentals. Thoroughly recommended! There are others on PIA that also offer this service too.

We also stayed with Tamara at homes down under and it was great. the place was actually better than the pictures and we were worried before arriving cos we thought there was a catch with the price being so cheap. Talk about clean, it was bloody spotless. best things about it was that it had everything like a wii for the kids, a computer and printer and the calls to the Uk were free. Great place in a great suburb, close to the beach and shops and the pool. She also picked us up from the airport for free and took us around to sort out the paperwork. Sure made it easy to settle in and without her for the reference I don't think it would have been so easy to get a house.
