That's not quite correct - u r responsible for a proportion of the advertising costs - if you have fir example 7 months left on your lease you will be responsible for seven twelths of the advertising costs - hope that makes sense?

Can any tell me about the costs involved with breaking lease, what you get charged for by the agent/landlord.

Our friends took their landlord to tribunal over this matter and the guys at the tribunal basically told them that they would only be liable for 4 weeks rent as if thr property could not be leased out in this time then there must be something wrong with the property...

there are quite a few threads on this matter have a search round the forum.

hope this somehow...

The details should be in your lease but in my case it was rent until it's let and they start paying, all advertising and a percentage of the fee to find a new tenant. Be prepared for a fight my old house still hasn't been let and I gave notice and then moved in march!!!

The tribunals are normally very fasvourable to the leaving tenants....they are well worth a call just for some advice...

In my contract they just refer to the tenancy act, but i did get a letter from my agent saying i will have to pay advertising fee, break of contract free of 1 to 2 weeks rent depending on calculation which OCBA told me should include the advertising fee.

and if i want to advertise the house before i leave it will cost me another $99 or on the other hand i can advertise it my self.
